DIY Infinity Style Dress

I found the best youtube video the other day and it inspired me to create an Infinity style dress.

This is the dress that you can style so many different ways making it seem like a different dress each time. And the best part, it took me like 1 hour to make it!

Hopefully the video loads for you, if not click here.

Anyhoo here are the steps I took as I adjusted it slightly for the material I was using. As to what material I used, pfft! No idea, it was in my cupboard for a few years haha.

I would recommend a jersey, something with a nice stretch and thick enough so you aren't high beaming through the top ^_^

You will need:

Material, Scissors, Pins & Sewing Machine

I cut my material into a basic rectangle - doubled over, about 70cm / 80cm

I kind of guesstimated a lot of the measurements!

Pin both pieces together and sew along the sides you have pinned.

Will look like this when you put it on

Still inside out pin the top section down. This is where you will thread your elastic for your waist.

Sew this down, leaving enough room for the elastic

Don't forget to leave a gap!

Now measure your waist, or where you would like the skirt to sit. Mark the join with a pen

Pin the end of your elastic to help you thread it through the material

Stitch this together and sew up the gap.

Skirt section done!!

Now taking a length of material about the width of your torso, sew this onto the top of the skirt and cut it down the middle to create two parts.
(here is where I changed it - I doubled the material and made two panels which I sewed onto the skirt)

Once sewn you are all done!

Time to start trying out those styles :)

Hope you enjoy!

If you make one also, please let me know how you go with it, would love to see some pics :)

Ciao lovelies!

Anzac Cookies for Anzac Day

I decided to make Anzac cookies today for Anzac Day.

This is the day we commemorate our servicemen. The men and women that are serving our country in wars, and those who have fallen. Lest we Forget.

Ingredients
  • 1 1/4 cups plain flour, sifted
  • 1 cup rolled oats
  • 1/2 cup caster sugar (I substituted 1/4 of this as brown sugar)
  • 3/4 cup desiccated coconut
  • 2 tablespoons golden syrup or treacle
  • 150g unsalted butter, chopped
  • 1/2 teaspoon bicarb soda

Method

Preheat oven to 170°C.
Place the flour, oats, sugar and coconut in a large bowl and stir to combine.

In a small saucepan place the golden syrup and butter and stir over low heat until the butter has fully melted. Mix the bicarb soda with 1 1/2 tablespoons water and add to the golden syrup mixture.

It will bubble whilst you are stirring together so remove from the heat. Pour into the dry ingredients and mix together until fully combined.

Roll tablespoonfuls of mixture into balls and place on baking trays lined with non stick baking paper, pressing down on the tops to flatten slightly.

Bake for 12 minutes or until golden brown.

Makes about 24 bite size cookies. Recipe via Taste.com.au

Now I am off to drink a lot of water...I may have polished off an entire bottle of Moscato (which is huge for me) *burps* yay for public holidays!!

Ciao Lovelies :)

Singlet - Dotti; Jeans - Betina Liano (from my sis); Belt - can't remember; Scarf - ICE; Necklace - Grandmothers; Sunglasses - Mimco

Hens Day Shenanigans

Hi lovelies :) I had my hens on the weekend which was an absolute blast!

I was told by my sisters (my Bridesmaids) to be ready at 11.30 to get picked up and to head off for my day of girly fun. I woke up bright and early and had my hair done at 9am, then home to get dressed, grab my bag and go!

First stop - Sparkles cupcakes for a cupcake making & decorating class :)

After this my sisters and I went back to our room for a chill out and then get ready for dinner.

Next Stop - White Horse Hotel in Surry Hills

The cocktails were awesome! So yummy :)

Afterwards we headed out on the town towards Oxford street, ended up at Kinsellas Bar and watched the most hilarious drag show - completely made my night!

Then went home to snooze and recover the next morning.

It was also my birthday on the Sunday and I got a few gifts on the Saturday from girlfriends, felt so spoilt! I was sooooo stoked when I got gum boots from my girlfriend in my favourite colour!!

Dress - Forever New

After a big breaky of bacon and eggs I went home to my fiance and he had my gift to give also. I must admit, this is one of the best gifts I have EVER received ^_^

Eeeee! So excited to start using her :)

Anyhoo, all from me. Enjoy your week! This is my last week of work before I get married on the 5th May. Nervous much????

Ciao Lovelies
